San Diego!

A significant part of the Hollings Scholarship is an internship at a NOAA facility of my choice in the United States.

After much confusion about whether I'm supposed to contact my top three facilities, or if ORISE was doing it for all of us scholars, I decided to take the initiative to do it myself. Time is running out and I'm supposed to do a site visit during Spring Break AND find a place to live if it works out.

So, after many phone calls to several people, I ended up on the line with a woman named Karin Forney at Monterrey Bay. Sensing my anxiety, she quickly calmed me down and put me in touch with Jay Barlow at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center in San Diego. He quickly offered me a list of projects, from which I chose to create an atlas of marine mammal sightings in the eastern tropical pacific ocean.

I'm going to SAN DIEGO! squeeeee!
